Jackson received backlash for his comments on social media -- including British actor and star of the new Star Wars film, John Boyega, who tweeted his frustration with Jackson's argument.

Aspiring filmmaker Gloria Tafa got in on the discussion when she called out Jackson in a Facebook post.
She asked him to consider the job of an actor, which is to do a character justice, not necessarily be them at the core. She also suggested he take up the issue with the people in charge of casting and not with black British actors who have a right to do their jobs.
Much to her surprise, Jackson heard her loud and clear.
