Fake or Asian Dramas Archivesnot, there's a lot of news these days and with so much of it ripe for comedic commentary, Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment isn't enough. The network confirmed Tuesday that it has ordered at least four episodes of a Weekend Updateprimetime series to air in the summer.
SEE ALSO: People are looking up the word 'complicit' thanks to hilarious 'SNL' Ivanka Trump sketch“SNL is having its best season in a quarter of a century — how many shows can say that?! — so we didn’t want them to take the summer off,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have Colin Jost and Michael Che continuing their unique brand of news with fresh Weekend Update shows in primetime this August.”
Weekend Updatewould air on Thursdays at 9 p.m., hosted by its SNLanchors, Colin Jost and Michael Che. NBC has previously ordered extra Update episodes, though usually tied to a presidential election.
The episodes will begin airing on August 10.
