A technological genius has created a portable way to play one of the greatest fighting/party games of all time: Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Meleeon the go by using some modified Wii hardware and a custom case that resembles a GameCube controller with a decent-sized screen in the middle. Longo posted his creation on the Smash Bros. subreddit Wednesday and it blew up, understandably.

The portable Meleecan be played with the system alone or it can support up to four GameCube controllers for multiplayer. The system can also be plugged into a CRT TV for some intense action on a bigger screen.
This is a dream come true for fans of Melee, many of whom have been clamoring for a rerelease or remaster of the 2001 GameCube game. The Nintendo Switch has recently given some people hope for a Meleererelease, but for now this pint-sized custom console is the closest we've come to Meleeon the Switch.
Longo shared his whole process of creating the custom console on BitBuilt, a forum and hub for people interested in the console customization hobby. He details everything he used to make the little machine, shares some photos, and shouts out some other fellow hobbyists who helped him along the way.
