On Thursday afternoon after President Trump announced the U.S. officially be pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Obama's former White House photographer shared his reaction in the form of – what else – an Instagram post.

A year later, after the world watched Donald Trump reject the agreement that could work towards preventing the potentially disastrous effects of global warming, Souza simply said, "we failed."
"He tried," he captioned the photo, referencing President Obama's past climate change efforts, "But we failed our children."

Barack Obama also weighed in on Trump's decision to pull out of the agreement in a written statement released Thursday.

Currently, the U.S., Nicaragua, and Syria are the only three nations to have rejected the agreement. Nicaragua declined because its government didn't think the agreement went far enough.
