You know you're kind of a big deal when the National Portrait Gallery displays a portrait of you.
Ed Sheeran must be Down Townfeeling like one hell of a big deal right now, because the gallery has just unveiled a fancy portrait of him, painted by Belfast-based artist Colin Davidson.

According to a statement from the gallery, the 4-foot-square oil painting is the result of an encounter between the artist and Ed Sheeran's dad, John, who's an art historian and curator.
"He [Davidson] has shown the private me, which few people ever see. I like the way he’s contrasted the reflective moment with such energetic and expressive brushwork. You wouldn’t think they’d go together, but they do," Sheeran said in a statement.
"He’s captured me thinking and feeling, which is extraordinary when you think he’s working with just some oils on a piece of linen," Sheeran continued.

As Sheeran excitedly shared the news on Twitter, fans were keen to point out the similarity between the singer and the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter.
