While many Democrats were busy using their "indoor" voices against Donald Trump, Waters rose so far above her bumbling party, she lost all touch with the ground.

Trump may be president of the United States, but Maxine Waters is the president of the people (or, at least, the very sad people reading the news right now).

Thanks to a canonical Ellewrite-up of a press conference Waters held where she dropkicked a mic, then set a whole room of reporters on fire, Waters has emerged as the leading figure of the Resistance. But she's more than a viral fad. Maxine Waters has a long history of being heroically Maxine Waters. Here's a far-too-brief highlight real.

1. The 30-second press conference she gave that made her the icon she is today.

2. The time she told the Tea Party to go "straight to hell," then promised to "help them get there."

3. When she told an entire convention that certain Republicans were "demons" and that she never wanted to see them again "on our screens." (start at 11:15)

4. When she later told one of those very same Republicans that she was "really proud of him" after she saw him crying in front of the Pope. (0:26)

5. When she was horrified that people would even think for a second that she'd attend Trump's inauguration

6. Then came on TV to say the same glorious thing

7. When she sponsored HR 6796, or as she actually genuinely submitted it, the "Stop Very Unscrupulous Loan Transfers from Underprivileged countries from Rich Exploitive Funds Act" ("Stop Vulture"). Strangely, the bill died in committee.

8. When she shamed Newt Gingrich so hard on the House floor people erupted into applause (gets kicking at 0:59, watch to the end).

9. When she complained that Fox News tries to "undermine us" and "destroy us," then wouldn't give their reporter the time of day.

10. When she helped to guarantee $10 billion in loans for infrastructure development in cities, another $50 million for job training for underserved youth, expanded U.S. debt relief for Africa, created a Center for Women Veterans, came to LAX to protect detainees and otherwise served her constituents and country for the past 41 years.
